Benjamin Coyle Larner better known to most as Loyle Carner is a rapper, actor from South London. That’s what Google tells us, but who is Loyle Carner?
I first found out about Loyle Carner at Stig Of The Dump unofficial album launch in the basement of the Deal Real Legacy pop up store last summer. Loyle Carner was supporting and within the first five minutes of his performance, I knew I would be a fan for life. To make some comparisons of the sound that Loyle Carner embodies I would say think: Q-Tip, Slum Village, Common etc with a British accent. His first EP “A Little Late” (which can be downloaded for free from his bandcamp page) has been on heavy rotation in my headphones, as well as stand out singles “BFG” and “Cantona” receiving consistent playlist support on my show. My fellow Itch fm DJs DJ Maintain and DJ Chux have been supporting Loyle Carner heavily as well.
Already receiving radio support from Itch fm, BBC 1Xtra, Radio One and 6 music, heavily championed by NME magazine, interviews in the Guardian and support from countless online blogs, Loyle Carner is a breath of fresh air to UK music. Getting out on the road Loyle Carner has had several successful UK tours, including a spot at the world famous Glastonbury festival.
