DJ Madhandz

DJ Madhandz is a hip-hop DJ/Turntablist/Record Collector originally from Kettering, Northants, but now residing in London.

I’ve been part of the ITCH FM team now for a few years, doing the ‘Hip Hop Back in The Day’ Show with my fellow HHBITD crew members. As well as doing radio, I’ve been lucky enough to feature on physical music releases alongside acts like AG, Reks, Ruste Juxx, Percee P, M9, Ded Tebiase, Ash the Authour, Darc Mind, Phoenix Da Icefire, Verbz, Mr. Slipz, and plenty more too!

The Inspiration

Bit of a scratch nerd – I come from a battle DJ background and you can hear that in mixes I put out, and how my shows flow with mixing, beat juggling, and scratching, all featuring (if you ever checked for a DJ Noize battle set, or a DJ Riz, DJ MK, Roc Raida mixtape, then you get where my inspiration comes from).

But, moving forward to my love for beats and instrumental hip hop, you get the new solo show from myself, “Boom Bap Renaissance” is exactly how it’s worded.

There’s a whole plethora of music that, in my eyes, gets overlooked the same as those artists who make it…the producers and beat makers. This show is allowing me to showcase music to new listeners, and hopefully you will go and explore the world of instrumental hip hop and beat tapes, and support the artists I play each month.

There’s a whole wide world of beats, so each month I’ll bring you the latest from artists from the UK, to Europe, to Asia and more – all mixed and cut up in a 2-hour mixtape fashion.

Expect guest mixes in the future from DJs I rate highly, and of course there will be the odd vocal tracks thrown in for good measure. Hip-hop is in a solid place right now, therefore, the more avenues new artists have for music to be played and listened to, the better as far as I’m concerned!
