Micall Parknsun and Mr Thing – Finish What We Started

Subsequent to the successful release of their single “The Raw” in 2017, Micall Parknsun and Mr Thing are set to drop their Brand new project “Finish What We Started.”

The album, produced entirely by Hip-Hop veteran Mr Thing, has Micall Parknsun dropping solid vocals over 13 tracks with guest appearances from Essa, M-9, Joker Starr and Konny Kon.

From the off this LP has two key elements, Micall Parknsun, an experienced wordsmith and MrThing, a DJ with a depth of knowledge applied through his production. They both compliment each other on each track as in conversation with the listener in the front row.

The guest features are carefully chosen like ingredients for fine dining: Joker Starr, Melanin9, Konny Kon, Essa (who MrThing has a solid catalogue with already).

Each track explores various sounds while Micall Parknsun guides you lyrically. The pace and feel of each track differ keeping the interest on the edge of your ears. Tracks like “the Raw” have already had a limited vinyl outing and is welcome here amongst its audio peers.

The excitement and drive of tracks like “Don’t you care” and “KlingonFace” are brought to life with Mr Thing’s choice of Golden Era samples that wouldn’t be out of place on someone’s holy grail wants list.

Whereas “8 Bricks” has the atmospheric soundscape that allows Micall Parknsun and Melanin 9 to bounce lyrics between each other for your listening pleasure.

With Hip Hop being such a 12″ dominated culture LPs are hard to produce that really hit the mark. This does what highly revered LPs do and has a collection of tracks that stand alone, each able to command attention on their own. Without much time for this to marinate and soak up, it really does have that feeling of “I don’t want to miss out on this”.
