“The Get Down” is Netflix’s new 70s Hip Hop series which focuses on New York City in the 1970s. A place in turmoil, through poverty, violence, and no hope.

And through all this strife life Hip Hop was born in the South Bronx, and gave the youth a way of expressing themselves via verbal games, dynamic dance steps, magic marker pens and spray cans.

The Get Down has a symbolic look on how Hip Hop travelled out of the Bronx Ghettos to the art arena of Soho, and first hand accounts are giving by those same Bronx kids in their very own words.

These Bronx kids changed the musical landscape of the city and the world forever!!!
