It wasn’t long  before the genre made its way across the pond to the United Kingdom. The UK has a rich history of producing talented hip hop artists and has been home to some of the biggest names in the genre.

They were followed in the late 90’s to early 2000’s by artist such as Skinnyman, Roots Manuva, Taskforce, Supar Novar, Blak Twang, Phi Life Cipher, 57th Dynasty, Sincere, Tommy Evans , Rodney P and Klashnekoff.

The fusion of hip hop with UK musical sub-genres popular in the 1990s, such as UK garage music, techno, and jungle music—a type of rave music characterized by a heavy backbeat—gave rise to Grime music.

This has also given rise to some of the most exciting and innovative artists in the country, such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Giggs, Dave and Stormzy.
